As reported in The Arizona Capital Times, Governor Ducey has proposed paying for teacher raises by sweeping funds from different agencies, including “$2 million in one-time funding for the developmentally disabled.”

Some in our state have cast striking teachers as being difficult to satisfy. Here at the quiet crisis next door, we applaud them as heroes who are standing up for what is right. There can be no doubt, our teachers and schools, especially special education, are underfunded in this state. However, we can not support a plan that removes resources and supports from families and individuals that desperately need them.

We know there will be differences of opinion, but we are nonetheless #RedForEd all the way. As the mother of a child who is currently classified as lower functioning then more then 99% of his peers, I have nothing but gratitude for their courage.
