Yeah, that’s my stomach, and my fit bit. Photos by Ari and Ms. S
That’s a shot of my skin with 2 Allegra, 100 mg of hydroxyzine, and prednisone in my system…and the hives still weren’t controlled or gone. Didn’t start getting better until 4 days into the prednisone. Most of my body looked like that except my face. And when the mast cells are in flood the zone mode, POTS follows (that’s my fit bit from a couple days ago, the lowest parts were my laying down sleeping moments).
It all started out as a virus that I personally barely got sick from. Tony had a fever of 102, Hannah was vomiting and coughing, Andy equally cruddy…me? A little under the weather, some mild congestion, a slight cough…until the hives started and got worse with everything I ate or drank that wasn’t water. Any virus can lead to a mast cell flair up, though fortunately it rarely does for me. I finished the school year with Tony with this flair up in progress, but wasn’t working on much else.

Somewhere during all of that while I was pretending like my blog didn’t exist, I am guessing a php update knocked by website offline because the theme wasn’t compliant. So, I’ll be working on that, but the blog may appear messier for a bit or different because it will be kind of under construction until I settle on what I want, but because I am still not fully recovered, it’s going to take some time. So I am going to start wrapping things up for today with a quick picture from Tony’s IEP notes this past April:

I love that his teacher described him as loving and respectful. Working with him this year while navigating the neurological symptoms from the spinal chord compression and everything else wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth it. I am going to end with a shout out to Ms. S (shown with me below), who gave him the stuffed pigeon in the above pics for his birthday and who covered most of my lunches and worked with Tony at school during times I wasn’t able to be in the classroom. Both Tony and I have been very grateful for the beautiful, loving spirit she brought to every interaction she had with him/us. Wishing each of you happy and healthy days <3 Ari
