When Whitney first started working with our family, Tony would scream, cry, and hide for most of the two hours each day she was coming in. This lasted for nearly a month. Gradually, he began to respond to her patient and gentle way of working with him. This picture is from the early fall of 2015, and I know…it’s a blurry as can be in spots and part of Whitney’s head got left out of the view. Tony was moving fast and my cell phone at the time had a crummy camera, but what I see when I look at this moment is our little man finally beginning to accept Whitney into his life and that’s why I tried to capture the moment, however imperfectly. How rare it was- so, so very rare- back then for him to let anyone touch him other than Andy, Hannah, or I. Thank you, Whitney, for everything.
